FAQ's
What is collagen used for?
Collagen supplements are used worldwide for their potential to delay signs of aging - such as wrinkles and fine lines - as well as strengthen hair and nails and improve joint health.
Our Plent Marine Collagen products contain a type of hydrolized fish collagen which is clinically proven to have positive effects of the signs of skin aging, such as wrinkles, fine lines and loss of skin firmness, hydration and elasticity.
Three clinical research studies have shown that daily consumption of our fish collagen may reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, improve skin hydration and firmness and promote skin elasticity.
What makes Plent's products special compared to many other brands?

ENRICHED WITH VIATMIN C FROM ORGANIC ACEROLA
Plent Marine collagen is enriched with vitamin C from organic acerola which helps the body to increase collagen production and helps revitalise your skin naturally.
What are hydrolized collagen peptides?
Our collagen is hydrolysed and enriched with natural vitamin C from organic acerola for maximum absorption.
When a protein is extracted from the food, it is usually in a long, complex structure. Larger proteins need to be digested before being absorbed and available in the body.
When a large protein is hydrolysed, it is ''snipped' using enzymatic processes to simply chop it into smaller fragments to become more bioavailable and biologically active. This means that it is better absorbed into the body.
Why is Vitamin C important as an added ingredient to collagen?
Our Plent Marine Collagen contains acerola for added Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps the body produce collagen (Source: EFSA). Taking vitamin C with collagen may also maintain good skin health and speed up healing (Source: EFSA). People who have continuous insufficient intake of Vitamin C may have a slower healing process and collagen production (Source: EFSA). Plent collagen contains Organic Acerola providing 80 mg of Natural Vitamin C per serving. Vitamin C has been studied to help with collagen absorption in the body!
What does vitamin C in collagen do for skin health?
Vitamin C not only helps contribute in normal collagen production but it also helps in regenerating Vitamin E which helps protect the cells from oxidative stress and at the same time supports the immune system and the growth and repair of body tissues (Source: EFSA).
Is fish collagen better than bovine or porcine collagen?
Traditionally, collagen supplements use bovine (cows) and porcine (pigs) as collagen sources. But as further studies were done, collagen from marine life is more sustainable and of better quality. Marine Collagen is a high-quality type I collagen with a higher absorption capability up to 1.5 times more than bovine and porcine collagen (Source: NCBI & MDPI).
Type 1 Collagen is similar to the collagen structure naturally available in the body and making it readily available to the body once consumed (Source: MDPI).
It is worth noting that the majority of raw material used in beef collagen today is sourced in South America. Even within the same brand of raw materials, you’ll find inconsistencies in taste and quality, for example when beef collagen raw material and manufacturing takes place in Europe vs US.
What reduces collagen in your body?
As we age, our collagen production decreases 1 to 1.5% every year after early adulthood around the age of 25. However, aging is just one factor that can cause collagen production to decline. We also have other factors such as:
Lack of Vitamin C in the diet
Lifestyles such as a non-balanced diet and smoking
Excessive sun exposure (photoaging of skin)
What are the signs of collagen deficiency in the skin?
The gradual decline in our collagen production can cause the first signs of skin aging: wrinkle formation, brown spots, fine lines, and sagging skin. This is where collagen supplementation comes in (Source: Parjournal).
How long do you have to use collagen before results are visible?
Collagen supplements are widely used to improve skin, hair, nails, joints and overall health. In general, most users reported seeing an improvement in the health of their skin, hair and nails within 4 to 8 weeks after starting daily collagen use. For a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, users reported that first results are generally noticed between 2-6 months after starting daily collagen use.
It is important to note that this has emerged in studies whereby the recommended daily dose of 5-10 grams of collagen type I was used on daily basis.
Factors that influence the results
It's important to understand that several factors can influence the effectiveness of collagen, such as:
- The quality of the collagen supplement
- The dosage
- Individual genetic factors
- Age
- Lifestyle and dietary habits
- Keep these factors in mind when taking collagen supplements and expecting results.
